I’ve known a couple of dogs who sucked their paw much like a child sucks their thumb. Lots of kids go through stages of biting their nails. I know my granddaughter did. But I have never seen a dog or a cat that bites its nails. Twiggy does! I think she does it because when she is playing “attack the chair” she often gets one of her nails caught. She will look around to see if you are watching and will pretend she is doing a special yoga pose if you notice. She isn’t stuck!
Twiggy loves to lay on my desk. She would really rather be in my chair but as long as I am in the chair you can usually find her on a blanket on my desk. Right next to the windows where she can peek out and where she can feel the breeze if I have the window open. The other day I thought the desk was vibrating and I looked over to see Twiggy chewing away on her back toe nails!
She would grab the nail between her teeth and just pull and tug on it!
It was amazing how far apart she could spread those toes. She was determined to shorten those nails!
Do you think I should give Twiggy a pedicure?
I’m happy to see this. Harley does the same thing! He is the only one of our 5 that does it, so he’s not as strange as I thought. He does the exact same routine that Twiggy does .. spreads those toes apart and then chews and tugs on his nails. Yes, I think maybe it is a hint that they would enjoy a nice pedicure .. and maybe a massage.
Twursula doesn’t do it either and they are sisters. They just pay more attention to their grooming!
hahahaaaa….wouldn’t that be a “pawdicure”?
I do think you are right!
