Twiggy brought us her first lizard of the season! The last few days it has been in the 90s here in Southern California and the cats have all been out enjoying the sunshine. Twursula has even gotten off of the bed a few times! I’ve seen all of them out on the Cat Freeway. A couple of cats I know need to shed some of their winter padding! It’s been fun watching them get up there.
I was sitting in the office yesterday when I heard Twiggy come in and you know how you can just sense when a cat is up to something? Well she is under Grampy’s desk and she is desperately searching for something that seems to have crawled under the power strip! I saw a tail! I let them play and when I looked back a few minutes later the lizard appeared to have crawled under the carpet where the cable comes up from the floor. I did not panic. If that lizard stays under there and dies Grampy will be able to get it out, won’t he?
I had to leave and as you can imagine the first thing I did when I walked in the house was to go and see if Twiggy and her lizard were still under Grampy’s desk. No, now they were sitting in the middle of the office floor. It was just a little bitty lizard! I ran to get the camera and so of course Twiggy scooped it up and headed for our bedroom. I did not panic. Grampy will be able to get it out of there, won’t he?
Twiggy spent the entire afternoon playing with that little lizard. Twursula even got up and went in and watched for a while, but then she went back to bed. I don’t think Twiggy put a mark on it but it did lose its tail which was laying in the middle of the bedroom floor. They moved to Grampy’s side of the bed where there were some clothes laying and Twiggy and the lizard could play hide and seek. They were still playing when Grampy got home. He found the lizard in his shirt as he watched it slither under another piece of clothes. Grampy is wonderfully brave and scooped the lizard up and took it outside! Yeah! No more lizards in the house, at least for today.
No lizards were harmed in the making of this adventure.
