Then there was Gus

Gus’ mother, Fiona, was a wild cat that came to our yard. We managed to gain her love and trust and she blessed us with some kittens. I was so lucky to have been there when they were born. Our intention was to find good homes for the kittens, but we were only able to find a home for little Lucy. So Gus, and his brother, Jake are now permanent members of our family along with their mother, and two other cats, Harley and Ozzy.

Today Gus is a beautiful 3 year old black and brown tiger who is very shy around strangers. He’s a big boy and weighs 17 pounds, but he’s not fat at all. He and I bonded when he was just a kitten and I am the only person he cares to acknowledge. With me he is playful and energetic, and very loving and sweet. He sleeps curled up next to me at night and follows me around from room to room. Wherever I am, Gus is there.

Gus loves water and likes to drink from the faucet (he may have learned that from another cat, Harley). Gus likes to play in the water more than drink it.

We live in the middle of a dense woods and the cats love roaming around in the woods hunting chipmunks and mice. If I go outside and call his name, I immediately hear the leaves rustling and then see him pop out of the woods running with his tail in the air as fast as he can toward the house! He leaps onto the deck and runs to me, rubs against my legs and gives me a big kitty smile. He’s my boy!

How wonderful that adopting Fiona not only brought you the joy of Fiona but Gus and Jake, too! You are a very good cat Mom and a wonderful sister, too!
