I’ve known a couple of dogs who sucked their paw much like a child sucks their thumb. Lots of kids go through stages of biting their nails. I know my granddaughter did. But I have never seen a dog or a cat that bites its nails. Twiggy does! I think she does it because when she is playing “attack the chair” she often gets one of her nails caught. She will look around to see if you are watching and will pretend she is doing a special yoga pose if you notice. She isn’t stuck!
Twiggy loves to lay on my desk. She would really rather be in my chair but as long as I am in the chair you can usually find her on a blanket on my desk. Right next to the windows where she can peek out and where she can feel the breeze if I have the window open. The other day I thought the desk was vibrating and I looked over to see Twiggy chewing away on her back toe nails!
She would grab the nail between her teeth and just pull and tug on it!
It was amazing how far apart she could spread those toes. She was determined to shorten those nails!
Do you think I should give Twiggy a pedicure?
The other day Twursula seemed to be very distressed. She was pacing the hall crying and crying. She was freaking out from all the noise out in front of our house. The city was getting ready to resurface the street the next day and they were doing all the preparations. This meant lots of loud trucks and strange noises. Twursula doesn’t like loud or strange. After 6 years she still hides from the lawn guys and the trash trucks. We live on a very quiet cul-de-sac and Twursula likes it that way. Twursula likes quiet. So when she started crying and carrying on Grampy scooped her up and was giving her lots of extra love, trying to make her feel safe and secure. He carried her into our room, away from the noise and says “I don’t know where Twiggy is”.
And then we both see this little lump in the middle of our neatly made bed. Twiggy had crawled under the covers to hide from the noise of the trucks! It was so cute! There was no doubt that was why she was hiding either. She came out for a few moments and looked around and went right back under!
Our girls don’t like noise.
Sleeping is what Twursula does best. Amara’s bed is usually her favorite place to sleep but like all cats the sleeping place varies a little bit. The important thing to understand is that Twursula loves to sleep.
…Or out lounging under Hawaii, my little plumeria.
Or she might be chillin’ on the Cat Freeway. Maybe even napping. Twursula does love to nap.
The other evening Twursula came blasting through the doggy door and headed for the front room. Grampy and I were confused. She never moves at that speed unless it is something important. So we followed her into the front room to find out just what she was up to.
This is Mothra and this is what Twursula was up to! She brought it into the front room, left in by the chair and headed for her nap. It wasn’t flapping it’s wings anymore! She was bored, might as well sleep! Besides battling Mothra takes a lot of energy.
Yep, definitely need a nap.
